OUR COACHES
Julie Parker
OVERVIEW
Julie is an experienced coach with over three decades of practice, offering a distinctive and holistic style that integrates traditional methodologies with embodied and somatic practices. She specialises in supporting people through Life Transitions, guiding them to navigate uncertainty and discover renewed purpose and meaning. Julie brings deep empathy, sharp intuition, and incisive questioning to create spaces that feel safe, grounded, and expansive.
Her professional background spans investment finance and consultancy before she transitioned into coaching and personal development. She has since worked with a wide range of sectors including global businesses (such as BP and Johnson & Johnson), private healthcare (The Harley Street Clinic), the NHS, and Higher Education. For more than ten years she has been an Associate at the University of York, working with senior executives, mid-career researchers, PhD action learning groups, and undergraduates. Julie has also designed and led coaching retreats in the UK and Africa, and her work continues to expand internationally.
In 2025 she has been invited to contribute to major global conferences, including Regeneraction in Italy, the Transformations Community Conference in South Africa, the World Ethic Forum in Switzerland, and the Yorvoice and TCX Conferences in York.
APPROACH
Julie’s coaching integrates traditional methods with embodied, somatic practices drawn from her training as an Alexander Technique teacher, Relational Dynamics coaching, meditation, and intuitive bodywork. She works with individuals to develop deeper self-awareness and resilience, enabling them to meet life’s transitions with clarity and creativity. Her practice is characterised by warmth, presence, and curiosity, supporting clients to shift perspective, release limitations, and step into new possibilities.
She is particularly passionate about bringing her facilitation skills to interdisciplinary research and the field of environmental sustainability, helping individuals and groups explore transformative ways of working and living.
PERSONAL
Julie earned her degree in Mathematics before beginning her career in investment finance and consultancy. She later followed her passion for personal development, retraining in coaching and embodied practices. A lifelong adventurer and linguist, she speaks Italian and French, and her curiosity has taken her around the world.
She feels most alive in wild places - body surfing in rough seas, sleeping under the stars on African safaris, white-water rafting down the Zambezi, or swimming in icy mountain rivers. Julie’s personal love of nature and exploration deeply informs her work, fuelling her commitment to human and planetary flourishing.
